Those of us using Pokemon Home can get rare rewards for using the app as usual, as two distribution events are in effect for Shiny versions of Manaphy and Enamorus. Pokemon Home is an app that allows players to move their Pokemon from one game to another. This means that if a player originally caught a Pokemon in Sword or Shield, they can use Pokemon Home to move that Pokemon to their save files in other games. Some games, like Pokemon GO, Let's Go, Eevee!, and Let’s Go, Pikachu!, will only allow the to move the Pokemon once, after which it cannot be moved back.

The Pokemon Company detailed the contents of the update in a post released last week. While the update will allow players to transfer Pokemon freely from the three games, there are a few caveats. One, due to the fact that Pokemon Legends: Arceus is set in the distant past, any Pokemon caught and transferred from BDSP, Sword, or Shield will come in Strange Balls. Similarly, Pokemon caught in Legends: Arceus and transferred to the above games will also appear in Strange Balls.

The special gift Pokemon will vary depending on the linked game. Linking Legends: Arceus, for example, will gift s with a Rowlet, Cyndaquil, and Oshawott with maximum effort levels. BDSP, on the other hand, will net s a Turtwig, Chimchar, and Piplup with Hidden Abilities. Both will be available as mystery gifts in the mobile device version of Pokemon Home.

Pokemon Home is available on Nintendo Switch and iOS and Android devices. Pokemon Legends: Arceus, Pokemon Brilliant Diamond, and Pokemon Shining Pearl are available on Nintendo Switch.

We finally have an update on Pokemon Home for the Switch BDSP remakes and Legends Arceus. Back in August 2021, a Pokemon Presents suggested the three games would be compatible with the service in 2022. Now, the release window is “soon.” The Pokemon Company International also went over the special Pokemon people will get in each game for linking up. It also noted more Pokedex is on the way for Pokemon Home.

The new Pokedex options will also tie into how Pokemon Home handles data from games. This means it will go beyond the National Pokedex after 2.0.0. When you link Pokemon BDSP to Pokemon Home, it will be relatively simple. You’ll get Hidden Abilities Chimchar, Piplup, and Turtwig as Mystery Gifts. You’ll also be able to access Legends Arceus Pokemon too, though they will be in Strange Balls.

As for Pokemon Legends Arceus, its Pokemon Home Pokedex will acknowledge your research progress and you’ll be able to check each character’s effort levels. The Mystery Gifts for linking it up will be max effort Cyndaquil, Oshawott, and Rowlet in your box. It will be able to get Pokemon from BDSP, Sword, and Shield, however they will be in Strange Balls when they arrive.

The version 1.3.0 patch for Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl (BDSP) unlocks trade at the Global Wonder Station (GWS). In order to use the Global Wonder Station’s features, you need a Nintendo Switch Online subscription. The patch is live now.

The Global Wonder Station is in Jubilife City, though players could not enter it at launch. However, with version 1.3.0, the patch notes state that it is now possible to trade Pokemon on the internet through the Global Wonder Station, which implies Wonder Trade is now possible.

With Wonder Trade, you randomly trade with another trainer, which adds an element of gambling to the process. Aside from opening up the Global Wonder Station and an Arceus cutscene (for players with Pokemon Legends: Arceus), the patch provides small quality-of-life upgrades. However, the patch does not go into them in detail.

You can also obtain Arceus as a playable Pokemon. You will first need to beat both Brilliant Diamond or Shining Pearl and Pokemon Legends: Arceus. After getting version 1.3.0, you get an Azure Flute from your room and use it at Mount Coronet’s Spear Pillar.

The legendary Pokemon Arceus and Darkrai are now available to acquire in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. However, there are different ways to get each one. One involves ing the latest patch and owning Pokemon Legends: Arceus. The other is a more traditional Mystery Gift item available to between new moons.

If you want to get Arceus in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, you need Pokemon Legends: Arceus. You also have to have beaten that game and the one you're playing. So first, you need to the 1.3.0 patch for Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. Then, you need to make sure you own and beat the campaign in Pokemon Legends: Arceus. After that, when you open Pokemon Brilliant Diamond or Shining Pearl again, you need to get a National Dex and defeat the Elite Four. If you do, you can head to your room for an Azure Flute to use at Mount Coronet's Spear Pillar.

Compared to that, Darkrai is much simpler to acquire in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. If the time of year is between new moons, you open up Mystery Gift. This nets you a Member Card key item. Then, if you beat the Elite Four and have a National Dex, you can go to Newmoon Island, you can encounter and try to catch Darkrai.

Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are available for the Nintendo Switch, and the March 15, 2022 update lets people get Arceus in-game. Shaymin is also available in-game.

Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl players can soon catch Shaymin. During the February 2022 Pokemon Presents, details about a new Mystery Gift came up. Starting on February 27, 2022, people can claim one Oak's Letter. Once they get it, they can use it to meet and catch Shaymin. However, the item can only be claimed until March 27, 2022.

The presentation showed how the event will go in-game. In the original Pokemon Diamond and Pearl, heading to Route 224 with one would trigger a meeting with Professor Oak. The player then gets to access a new, flowery area. That is where Shaymin shows up. It is then possible to battle and catch the grass-type Pokemon in its Land Forme. As is common with event Pokemon, you only get one chance to encounter and catch Shaymin.

If you fast forward to the seven minute mark, you can see how Shaymin looks in-game.

The announcement didn't offer any details about Shaymin's Sky Forme. That debuted in Pokemon Platinum. People who visited Floaroma with the character in their party could get a Gracidea. Using it changes the Pokemon to a grass and flying type.

Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are available for the Nintendo Switch, and Oak's Letter will bring Shaymin to both games on February 27, 2022.

A recent financial report from Nintendo revealed the Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl remakes have sold 13.97 million units worldwide. A majority of these sales came from the October to December 2021 holiday period. Total software sales in general saw a significant increase during that time period.

The latest sales numbers make Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl the ninth best-selling Switch titles to date. Of the 13.9 million units sold, approximately 10 million units were sold outside of Japan.

In comparison, Famitsu previously reported back in December 2021 that the two remakes had sold a combined 6 million units worldwide since launch. Earlier in November, the remakes had sold 1.3 million units in the first week of launch. The next best-selling titles, Pokemon: Let's Go Pikachu and Let's Go Eevee, have sold a cumulative 14.3 million units since their 2018 release.

Interestingly, the financial report also noted that digital software sales saw a significant increase during the holiday season. The report credited a few releases for the rise in sales. These included the release of the Pokemon Diamond and Pearl remakes, as well as the release of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Animal Crossing Happy Home Paradise DLC, and the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack. These releases also likely contributed to the boost in hardware sales for the Nintendo Switch.

The official Pokemon YouTube channel ed a new music video as part of the ongoing Project Piplup. The music video features ending themes from the Pokemon Diamond Pearl anime series alongside animations of the penguin Pokemon. Notably, the music video also includes various nods and references to the 16-year-old anime series.

The music video, titled "It'll be fine!," includes a total of four ending themes from the anime's original run. These include "By Your Side ~Hikari's Theme~," "Surely Tomorrow," "Message of the Wind," and "In Your Heart LaLaLa." Singing the ending themes is veteran voice actor Megumi Toyoguchi, who played Hikari (a.k.a. Dawn) in the anime. At one point, bubbles form around Piplup and show scenes from the original ending credits scenes, such as Piplup at the beach and at the fireworks festival.

Project Piplup or Project Pochama, after the Pokemon's Japanese name, is a project that started back in 2021. The initiative aims to shine a spotlight on the fourth-generation starter Pokemon. The project also has its own Twitter and website. The project started as a way to promote the Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl remakes released last year.

Kawada will release Nanoblock toys of Sinnoh Pokemon from Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. They will come out on January 22, 2022. Each one will cost around 1045 JPY, which is around $9. The Pokemon that you will be able to buy Nanoblock kits of are Lucario, Garchomp, Glaceon, Leafeon, Piplup, Chimchar, and Turtwig. [Thanks, Hobby Watch!]

To be more precise, only the starter Pokemon (Chimchar, Piplup, Turtwig) will cost 1045 JPY. The other four will cost 1210 JPY ($10.45) each. These Nanoblock Pokemon are small enough to fit in the palm of your hand. Because the beads are clear, you can shine a light through them to make them sparkle.

These seven Pokemon are some of the more iconic ones from Generation IV. Kawada first revealed this collection of Sinnoh Nanoblock Pokemon during the Brilliant Shining Festival in October 2021. Other merchandise that appeared during this event include a giant Garchomp plush, a Psyduck teapot, and various Pokemon-themed snacks. This collaboration was to commemorate the release of Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Pokemon Shining Pearl, which launched less than a month after.

Next, here's the Pokemon Legends Arceus trailer introducing the Diamond and Pearl Clan characters. Adaman is the head of Team Diamond. Also on his side is Arezu, who is interested in the Galaxy Expedition Team. Irida is in charge of Team Pearl. Lian is also part of that group and looks after Kleavor, the Pokemon considered “Lord of the Woods.”

This means that the major Pokemon Switch releases' save data all feature unlocks for Pokemon Legends Arceus. Pokemon Sword and Shield saves on the system mean you see Shaymin. It'll provide a chance to get Shaymin kimonos and catch its land forme. Pokemon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Eevee! will give you Pikachu and Eevee masks. These are cosmetic items that will appear on top of your trainer's head.

The title has placed number one as the most reserved game through the storefront for three weeks in a row. This entry in the series changes up the standard Pokemon formula, and will allow players to seamlessly transition into battle with Pokemon on the field.

The Pokemon Company released new information regarding the Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl Ver. 1.1.2 update patch. The update patch includes two adjustments that will allow for better gameplay. This concerns the communication within the Union Rooms found in Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. Through a future update, more people will be able to communicate with one another in the Union Rooms. The update will also add a "greeting" feature.

So they’re not exactly surprising. But the quandary here is these games’ intended audience. Are they for you? The answer boils down to a few factors, and we’re here to guide you in the right direction!

Expecting a challenge from a Pokemon game has long been a mistake! That’s not new. “Core” RPG fans often look down on the franchise with disdain, as the pacing and intensity just isn’t there. But somehow? These games make it worse.

This comes about through the intersection of two of BDSP’s design decisions. The first: the shot-for-shot remake nature of the games. It tries very hard to be that old experience in as many ways as possible! Sometimes at the expense of modernity, and sometimes to the frustration of fans seeking either new upgrades or the additions of pseudo-sequel Platinum. Developer ILCA, either from a hesitance to make bad changes or an iron fist of Pokemon Company oversight, didn’t take any risks, and you can feel the stifling air of that safety.

But then? These elements collide with Experience Share. Originally an equippable, targeted item, modern EXP Share doles out lots of growth to the whole party with no exceptions. But the game’s combat encounters and difficulty curve aren’t balanced for this! The result is a game that’s mind-numbingly easy.

We actively avoided optional encounters whenever possible and still managed to overlevel within the first two hours and never look back. (As usual, though, there's a bit more challenge in the postgame when you get there.)

If NO, Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Pokemon Shining Pearl might be for you.

With the newbie-crafted Let’s Go games and the new-generation Sword and Shield in the recent past, you may not be looking for the nostalgic remake to be a comfortable entry point. And yet? Yeah, it very well could be.

Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl happily hold your hand. This all is fairly aggravating to veteran players who have been through all of this a dozen times before. But for the first time? Hey, that’s useful! Combined with that low difficulty and the simple aesthetic presentation, it may be the sort of entry to welcome family and friends to the franchise who picked up a Switch for Animal Crossing or Ring Fit Adventure.

It also sands down some of the game's rough edges. It retains the HM system for getting around, but you can activate any of them after they're unlocked without having a party member learn them. (Thanks, random wild Bidoof!) That EXP Share change means there's very little stress. BDSP even implements that modern move effectiveness display once you know a foe's types. It's welcoming, sometimes at the expense of feeling like bumper bowling.

If YES, Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Pokemon Shining Pearl might be for you.

There’s a sizeable segment of the Pokemon community that’s driven to find and collect all the new creatures. You know the type: the ones for whom Pokemon Home is a vital utility. If that’s you? You know, there may not be much for you here.

These games are pure remakes and don’t introduce any new species or forms. Early Pokemon facelifts covered pre-GBA generations that couldn’t connect to later ones for transfer. Later ones didn’t have that utility, but they were still regularly more convenient or with some handy extra features. The original DS games might require you to jump through a couple of hoops, but their feature sets aren’t ancient.

So BDSP only gives you access to more catch opportunities if you’re a Switch-only Pokemon player. And while, sure, Sword and Shield don’t have everything, the Expansion made so many more species accessible. (And provided a super-easy way to get Legendaries and Mythics.)

So if you actually want to collect new stuff, you’ll need to sit tight and wait for Arceus.

This might be the best selling point here. Is it the story? The contests? The underground? Or the iconic creatures that defined your childhood? Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl are most successful with those primed to love it.

Why? Well if you aren't here for the contests and ribbons and stickers and such, it can feel vanilla and barebones. Diamond and Pearl's distinct qualities are optional, and that puts it in its own territory in the franchise. Other entries? Megas. Z-Power. Dynamax. Whether you like it or not, you experience these new things as you play. In these games, you could its special elements by, and many do if it's not their sort of thing. But that does make a bland-at-times game even more milquetoast.

These special things are also about loving your creatures. That means that having a real attachment to pals like Shinx, Bidoof or Gible helps you enjoy the game in a very material way. Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl retain the original games' Pokedex, so anything newer won't pop up. And that's ideal for recreating that old experience.

The backlash to the games’ visual style? Yeah, you’d have to overcome that. The overlaid visual effects do a decent enough job of holding the look together, but it still feels disted at times. Not helping matters is the shift between chibi and normal styles in the overworld and battle. We think it’d be easier to get used to it if it were more consistent.

If YES, Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Pokemon Shining Pearl might be for you.

Without fondness for the original games, you might find Shining Pearl and Brilliant Diamond less than compelling. With it, though? You'll be fine as long as your expectations are in check. They're faithful remakes! And while ILCA's stodgy, conservative approach won't wow anyone, it gets the job done.

Famitsu announced that the estimated physical sales number for Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl in Japan reached 1,395,642 units in its launch week. The Japanese media outlet counted the sales on the first three days of the games' release, on November 19-21, 2021. It included sales from the Double Pack and the physical card but excluded the digital sales made on Nintendo eShop.

This number puts sales of Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl above Pokemon Sword and Shield, which only managed 1,364,544 physical units sold in the same region and period in November 2019. In fact, Famitsu even put the fourth-generation remakes as the second-best-selling Nintendo Switch game in the first week in Japan. The title that still sits at the top to date is Animal Crossing: New Horizons, which had sold 1,880,626 units in March 2020.

The Nintendo Switch console also set a new milestone in the same week. The console's sales number on November 15-21, 2021 reached 168 thousand units in Japan—almost double the previous week's amount of 87 thousand units. This number also includes the portable-only Lite model and the recently released OLED model. The Nintendo Switch family of consoles has now sold over 22 million units in Japan alone.

Over the years, there have been some truly off-the-wall, disturbing and just plain cool descriptions in the in-game Pokedex. But which are the best Pokedex entries? We like these. Share your favorites, too!

There are some truly wild descriptions in the Pokedex sometimes, but my favorites are the more mundane curiosities.

For example: Snorlax! The entries vary a bit on the specifics, but they're always in a similar ballpark: it eats at least 880 pounds of food every day, immediately falls asleep and is too lazy to move after that. But also it's only 1,014 pounds? What is this metabolism? Average humans eat well below five percent of their body weight a day, and this thing's eating 90.

The Pokedex entries for Ghost-type Pokemon are often cited for how creepy they are, and so let's avoid that. Spoink also deserves a special mention for the sheer ridiculousness of imagining life as a Spoink. If it can't stop moving lest it risk death, then how does it sleep...?

No, actually, my favorite Pokedex entry is Hatterene's. I love Hatterene and all of the other pastel Psychic-type Pokemon on its evolutionary chain. Ever read about Kadabra? That Pokemon has some The Metamorphosis shenanigans going on in some of its best Pokedex entries. Supposedly, in some situations there are rumors about people turning into Kadabra. Granted, the entries talking about it sound like something that could have happened to your third grade classmate’s cousin’s father-in-law’s stepson.

Long story short, apparently some kids who may or may not take part in extrasensory research could wake from uneasy dreams transformed into a spoon-wielding Pokemon. — Jenni

I'm a fan of more relatable Pokedex entries. Take Sunkern, a Pokemon who attempts to move as little as it can, or Morpeko, one that is constantly hungry. Sure, there are a ton of more bizarre entries to write home about, but I like Pokemon that I'd immediately vibe with.

My favorite Pokemon of all time is Golduck, and in Sapphire, the Pokedex entry pointed out that because it is such a strong swimmer, it often saves people from shipwrecks. That one made me love that big blue duck even more. — Carley
