While we don’t have E3 anymore, the Summer Game Fest 2025 Xbox Games Showcase appeared on June 8, 2025, and it included a number of titles and ROG Xbox Ally handheld gaming PCs with Xbox elements. The ROG Xbox Ally and ROG Xbox Ally X handhelds with AMD Ryzen will appear later in 2025, Hollow Knight: Silksongwill be playable on it, and every game that appeared in today’s showcase also will work on the systems. In total,  titles, updates, and add-ons appeared in today’s showcase.

Initial specs for both the Asus items came up. The ROG Xbox Ally is the smaller and less powerful of the two. It has AMD Ryzen Z2 A inside, 16GB RAM, and 512GB memory. The ROG Xbox Ally X model has AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme. It’s got 24GB RAM and 1TB storage.

What we end up getting when a company releases a remaster of a game varies. Sometimes, there are only some improved textures and HD enhancements. We might get a new or updated localization, if it involves a Japanese release. If we’re really lucky, the alterations will be so extensive that it might feel more like a remake. That’s what’s happened with Bethesda and Virtuos’ The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, as the remaster is so comprehensive and detailed that the experience often feels entirely new.

Oblivion Remastered begins with a player’s imprisoned avatar being tasked with a royal mission to get the fallen Emperor Uriel Septim VII’s Amulet of Kings to Blades Grandmaster Jauffre, while also dealing with the invasion of Oblivion’s Daedra as a result of the ruler’s death. We must forge our own path through Cyrodiil and find a way to save it and Tamriel. It's... fine. I'm not a huge fan of the main game's campaign and preferred supplemental missions in the past, and I found it remained true here. As a very welcome bonus, the remaster of Oblivion includes the Knights of the Nine and Shivering Isles expansions. While Knights of the Nine is totally fine, I always really enjoyed the Greymarch campaign in Shivering Isles and found returning to it a welcome premise.

As a refresher, Oblivion Remastered is an open-world action-RPG like other The Elder Scrolls games, filled with mainline and side quests to undertake. You can go through in either the first or third-person perspective, using melee, ranged, and magical attacks to cut through foes. There’s also crafting, with players able to use skills such as Alchemy to make potions and Armorer to repair equipment. There are also ample opportunities to do some roleplaying, with factions to like the Dark Brotherhood or Fighters, Mages, and Thieves Guilds and ways to pretend you’re a merchant by combining Mercantile and Speechcraft when buying and selling.

When first heading into Oblivion Remastered, the most obvious change in the remaster is the visuals. This is a stunning game that looks more like Skyrim than its original release. Environments are gorgeous. Buildings look realistic. Monsters and opponents are updated, and I appreciated how much more they look like more recent installments’ counterparts. All NPCs look different, often for the better, and the voice acting and lip sync looks so much more realistic and better. As someone who always prioritized the third-person perspective in The Elder Scrolls games, the camera settings are vastly improved. Everything just looks and sounds great. This even applies to player characters, since we get so many more options in the creator as well as updated original ones.

But once you start really getting into Oblivion Remastered, it’s evident how much fine-tuning Bethesda and Virtuos put into the remaster. I’ve always prioritized ranged weapons and magic in The Elder Scrolls series, and I could tell right away how much better things felt. I noticed magicka regenerated at a better pace, which I appreciated and left me feeling more secure early in my adventure. Also, archery feels like it got a major buff. The controller’s aim assist is great, and arrows both do more damage at a faster pace. Also, again, I felt more comfortable as an archer because I could get arrows from fallen enemies instead of worrying they’d be lost. There are lots of perk adjustments, and I especially noticed this when using alchemy and when I’d see greater chances of my arrows paralyzing enemies. 

There are even entirely new elements that make The Elder Scrolls IV more accessible in Oblivion Remastered. The best example of this is Clairvoyance. It’s a spell added for this release and pulled from Skyrim, and it helps you find your way in case you get lost by showing a line to your direction. The tutorial ended up being adjusted as well, so it also tells you how to use it. If someone has issues with the camera and is sensitive to motion-sickness when playing titles with a first-person perspective, I could see the camera motion option assisting with that. You can also add aim assist, as I mentioned before, and adjust how sensitive that is. Also, bless the developers for adding a text and subtitle font size options, as the medium and large options for both are so helpful.

Speaking of which, I think what I love most about Oblivion Remastered is how Bethesda and Virtuos used the remaster as an opportunity to add all of the Skyrim quality of life adjustments. We can sprint now! Sprinting is so great. And if you’re using any skill, it’s going to help you get experience to level up, which is so efficient. Skyrim’s horseback riding, health regeneration, and over-encumbered rules are in effect for the sake of convenience and ease of play too. This means you’re automatically swapped to the third-person perspective when you ride, to help you better take into what’s around you. Your health will regenerate when combat is over. If you are carrying too much, you can still move. The remaster’s HUD and difficulty levels also match the more recent release. In addition to being more efficient and working better, I feel it’s a big help for people who got into the series after The Elder Scrolls V debuted. 

Even if you don’t count Oblivion among your favorite The Elder Scrolls games, Oblivion Remastered is a triumph and sets a high bar for what we should expect from a video game remaster. While the game will play exactly as you would expect, it looks, sounds, and perhaps even feels smoother than ever before. Given how different the world looks and quality of life adjustments and changes based on Skyrim, it still might feel like a whole new experience this time around.

Following implementation of the tariffs inflicted by President Donald Trump, Microsoft will increase the price Xbox Series X and S console, controller, and accessory options in the US and worldwide. These will take effect in May 2025, with some of the cost increases going up by about $100 on systems, though stores like Amazon are still showing the lower prices. The Microsoft Store already reflects the new costs. This comes after Trump stated that Americans would need to accept smaller selections and higher prices and said, “Well, maybe the children will have two dolls instead of 30 dolls. So maybe the two dolls will cost a couple bucks more than they would normally.” Microsoft itself didn’t mention the tariffs that raised the costs of items in the US. [Thanks, Windows Central!]

Here’s the list of the new Xbox console price changes as a result of things like the Trump tariffs when compared to the old ones. One of the smallest changes applies to both the 512GB and 1TB Xbox Series S systems, which will each be going up by $80.

• The Xbox Series S 512GB model was $299.99, and it will go up to $379.99.
• The Xbox Series S 1TB model was $349.99, and it will go up to $429.99. 
• The Xbox Series X 1TB digital edition was $449.99, and it will go up to $549.99.
• The Xbox Series X 1TB was $499.99, and it will go up to $599.99.
• The Xbox Series X 2TB Galaxy Black Special Edition was $599.99, and it will go up to $729.99.

Many retailers are still showing the past prices. For example, Best Buy has the $599.99 tag on the Galaxy Black Special Edition, but the Microsoft Store now shows it as starting at $729.99. GameStop also still shows the base 1TB system as $499.99.

The controller price increases are relatively smaller. For example, a Microsoft Xbox Series X Wireless Controller Carbon Black was $59.99, but it will go up to $64.99. The Microsoft Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 core version was $129.99 and will go up to $149.99.

Microsoft isn’t the only company raising the price of various console options following the Trump tariffs. Sony brought up PlayStation cost changes in April 2025. Nintendo delayed Switch 2 pre-orders because of them. Other companies, such as Good Smile Company and the Square Enix Store, stopped taking pre-orders. 

Microsoft Xbox console, controller, and accessory prices are now more expensive as a result of the Trump tariffs.

Microsoft and Bethesda announced that the often rumored Oblivion remaster is called The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered. It is now available. We can play it on the PS5, Xbox Series X, or PC, and it is a part of Game Ultimate for those who subscribe to the service. The Shivering Isles, Knights of the Nine, and other DLC is included.

In addition to the standard version for $49.99, a $59.99 Deluxe Edition is available. That includes new quests to earn Akatosh and Mehrunes Dagon armors, weapons, and horse armor, a digital art book, and a soundtrack app.

We had some idea this remaster of Oblivion was on the way. It first came up when Microsoft acquired Bethesda. Various leaks suggested it was in development and might be a shadow drop for months. In addition to details like it using Unreal Engine 5, supposed images, and even early appearances from the site of Virtuos, the developer behind it. Some of Virtuos' other work includes Horizon Forbidden West Complete Edition for the PS5 and PC, the Switch version of NieR: Automata, and the Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater.

Here’s the official showcase revealing the remaster. It went over new features and additions. For example, there are new animations, new textures, we can now sprint, and the Deluxe Edition added the aforementioned new quests and items.

The original Oblivion debuted back on the Xbox 360 and PC in March 2006. About a year later, a PS3 port and Game of the Year edition launched in 2007. The GOTY version included its two expansions. 

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is now available, and we can play the remaster on the PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle might have started as an Xbox Series X and PC exclusive, but the PS5 version feels absolutely perfect. The DualSense is really fantastic. The appearance is great. It just feels like it’s worth your time to consider it on this console if you haven’t already played it yet.

First, I love how Indiana Jones and the Great Circle looks on a PS5. I primarily played on a standard version of the console, but did visit a friend to try it on a Pro as well. The lighting, textures, and ray-tracing are all incredible on both iterations of the system. So much so that usually I do up the brightness beyond recommended levels in games to ensure I see everything, but I didn’t need that here because of the quality. Everything was really crisp and clear. On top of that, it even ran perfectly, and I didn’t notice either the PS5 or PS5 Pro experiencing issues with keeping things at 60fps with no lag. It’s just a solid and reliable experience.

However, what really sold me on the PS5 version of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is the DualSense controller . Usually, I forget about the lightbar on it. I just don’t care about it! It doesn’t usually affect my gaming experience. It does here! If you look down at it, it will show valuable information at a glance. Since stealth is a big deal here, having it turn yellow if an NPC knows I’m around is so handy. So is being able to see if it is red, telling me I’m in the danger zone after deciding stealth isn’t for me. Especially since I absolutely and repeatedly rolled up to altercations, whip swinging, in fights with multiple enemies.

There are still some elements of the games that I feel wear out their welcome a tad. I do wish there was more freedom to handle early encounters however I’d like, as stealth feels like a less necessary approach once you get further into the game. Considering how few situations do completely force that type of approach, I really appreciated after I got through about the first fourth of the game and could really play however I’d like. Guns also still don’t feel like the optimal way to play.

Also, I didn’t get to test out one of the other PS5 exclusive elements that might prove handy for others coming to Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. It s the Community Game Help feature. I’ve used it in other games to solve puzzles or find collectibles. It could be good here too! We’ll see, I suppose.

If you did already play and beat Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, then I think you’re safe not buying the PS5 version and replaying it. The core experience is still the same, after all. But if you didn’t catch it at the end of last year on an Xbox Series X or PC, it is absolutely worth getting now. The features present work well, and there is value in the enhancements here.

Ahead of the release of Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii, several Yakuza games will be leaving Xbox Game . Thankfully, neither of the titles that will be leaving the service aren't integral to enjoying the spin-off game. As of February 28, 2025 Yakuza 3 Remastered and Yakuza 4 Remastered will be leaving Xbox Game on console, cloud, and PC.

The Yakuza 3 and 4 Remaster won't be the only games that will be removed from Game . Microsoft shared a list of what will no longer be accessible once February 28, 2025 rolls around. This includes the following:

• F1 22
• Gris
• Maneater
• PAW Patrol World
• Space Engineers
• Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun
• Wo Long Fallen Dynasty

That said, Microsoft has added a handful of games to the Xbox Game service, which includes Avowed and Eiyuden Chronicle.

However, those looking for another taste of the Like a Dragon, or Yakuza series, will be able to get their hands on a Dave the Diver crossover DLC. This DLC will see the addition of Like a Dragon series protagonist Kasuga Ichiban to the game sometime in April 2025.

Yakuza 3 Remastered and Yakuza 4 Remastered will be available on Xbox Game until February 28, 2025, after that date it will be leaving the service.

Microsoft released a list of new additions heading to its Xbox Game service in January 2025, which includes the original Diablo game from Activision and Blizzard. Other games ing the Game library include the console version of My Time at Sandrock and EA Sports UFC 5, while others like Exoprimal will be leaving the service.

Diablo originally launched back in 1997, and Activision and Blizzard since released several installments and spin-offs, most recently Diablo 4 (which is also currently on Game ) and its expansion Vessel of Hatred. The original game will the Game service on January 14, 2025 and be available for PC s.

Back in November, 2024, Microsoft also announced that Persona 5 Tactica and two Yakuza/Like a Dragon games would be leaving the service. The month before that, Good Smile Company announced it would be producing a Pop-Up Parade L figure of Lilith, the chief antagonist of Diablo 4.

Diablo will become available via Xbox Game for PC on January 14, 2025. The game is already available for purchase via GOG and Battle.net.

Microsoft has opened a new sweepstake on its Japanese official Xbox on X. The campaign will run for a whole week, and it will reward a packaged Xbox controller themed after Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon to one lucky winner.

Just like other recent Xbox controllers, this Armored Core 6-themed controller is generally compatible with Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, and PC. The owner can also connect it wirelessly to iOS and Android mobile devices. However, the controller will not work on the legacy Xbox 360 console.

To participate in this sweepstake, people only need to have an X , then follow the @Xbox_JP and repost the particular tweet. Microsoft Japan has, however, published a and conditions page for the campaign, which includes a limitation that only allows people who are legally residing in Japan to participate.

There has been a large variety of merchandise inspired by Armored Core 6 following the game's worldwide release in August 2023. Bandai Spirits has gradually released model kits and action figures featuring the AC units that appeared in the game. Fujimi Dragonbook is also working on a tabletop RPG based on the same game, which it will release in Spring 2025.

Microsoft will close the Japan-exclusive sweepstake for the Armored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon-themed Xbox controller on Monday, December 23, 2024. The game is readily available on not only Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC, but also on PlayStation 5 and 4.

Microsoft announced that IHOP will feature an Indiana Jones and the Great Circle themed menu and Xbox Stack Market app rewards for International Bank of Pancakes . This all starts on November 18, 2024.

We don’t know too much about the Xbox rewards that will be in the IHOP app for . We do know you need to actually eat at the restaurant to earn PanCoins, which you exchange for rewards weekly. Two initial photos showed an IHOP Xbox Series X and glasses with game art from Matt Taylor. However, more will be announced on Twitch and YouTube at 12:30pm PT/3:30pm ET on November 18, 2024.

Here are how the Xbox and glasses will look:

As for the Indiana Jones and the Great Circle IHOP menu, a photo showed some of the meals. It also highlighted three specific items being introduced. In the far back right, next to Jones’ hat, there is a Caramel Apple Butter Hot Chocolate with whipped cream on top in a mug and a tall glass with the Long-Lost Cookie Butter Milkshake.

Earlier this year, another video game appeared at IHOP. Sega teamed up with the restaurant for a Sonic the Hedgehog one. That themed menu included Sonic’s Blue Blur Special blueberry pancakes and copies of games and DLC in the Stack Market.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will come to the Xbox Series X and PC on December 9, 2024, and the IHOP special menu and Stack Market update will arrive on November 18, 2024.

We got a better look at the new Indiana Jones game, as Bethesda shared a new Indiana Jones and the Great Circle gameplay trailer. The video spends about 15 minutes looking at different characters, setting the stage for the story, and showing what it will be like when we step into Jones’ shoes. This comes after rounds of previews and past insights via trailers and events.

The trailer begins with Jones happening upon a treasure on a pedestal in some ruins. He takes it off, then smashes it to reveal something inside. Before we can properly see what it is, his attention is drawn to rocks starting to fall onto the platform where the item once sat. As sand pours down, he pops the item found inside the figure into his mouth and runs.

The game shifts to a first-person perspective from there. Quicksand fills the room, and we watch as Jones runs down a hall, dodges debris, and uses his whip to cross a gap. From there, we get to see more adventure elements in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, with the gameplay video showing him at Marshall College in 1937 when everything begins. After a peek at the story segment, we see his new ally Gina, learn about the quest to find stolen relics, and learn about the role Emmerich Voss plays in the game.

The November slate for Xbox Game has been revealed, and some notable entries will no longer be available. On November 15, 2024, a number of games will be unavailable to Game Subscribers, including Persona 5 Tactica, and two entries in the Like a Dragon series: Like a Dragon: Ishin and Like a Dragon: The Man Who Erased His Name.

While Persona 5 Tactica is leaving, those with access to Game will still be able to play Persona 3: Reload, the most recent Persona entry and a remake of the 2006 classic installment. And don't worry, consumers will still have access to the rest of the mainline Like a Dragon titles such as Yakuza 0, Yakuza Kiwami 1 and 2, all the way up to Yakuza 7: Like a Dragon. Even if Like a Dragon: Ishin and The Man Who Erased His Name will be unavailable after November 15, 2024.

Players who want to keep enjoying Persona 5 Tactica and the two Like a Dragon spinoffs on their Game linked devices will be able to use their member discount to get 20% off on the titles to keep them as part of their collection even after they go.

As for what will be arriving in November, Game owners will be able to get their hands on Metal Slug Tactics on November 5, 2024, Harold Halibut on November 6, 2024, and Goat Simulator Remastered on November 7, 2024. StarCraft Remastered and StarCraft II: Campaign Collection will also appear on Game on November 5, 2024

Persona 5 Tactica, Like a Dragon: Ishin, and Like a Dragon: The Man Who Erased His Name will remain on Game until November 15, 2024.

The original Xbox was Microsoft’s first attempt at a home console. While the Xbox didn’t set the world on fire immediately, it still had some phenomenal games worth checking out. Though the Xbox didn’t have too many JRPGs, the best original Xbox JRPGs are great titles worth checking out based on their visuals, gameplay, and how well they hold up now.

The king of action JRPGs on the original Xbox and the progenitor of console MMOs is a must-play for retro Xbox JRPG fans. This is by far the best JRPG experience you’ll find on this particular platform. The action-based combat is pretty good and holds up well enough today. The sheer number of customization options and the ability to play with others also helps.

My personal favorite about this game is the sheer amount of content. You won’t find another JRPG on the original Xbox with this much quality content worth playing.

2. Shin Megami Tensei Nine 1l163

This is by far one of the lesser-known entries in the Shin Megami Tensei series, and for some understandable reasons. The UI and combat is a bit too confusing and convoluted, but if you look past that, there are great series staples like collecting demons and the like. I also think this initial switch to 3D, while not as timeless as Nocturne, still looks pretty solid even today.

3. Digimon World 4 3n1m4d

This action RPG dungeon-crawler-like game in the Digimon series is far from the best of the franchise but it is still worth a look. There are four different Digimon players pick between to hack and slash their way through numerous enemies. The usual gimmicks like Digivolution are present, and the up-to-four-player multiplayer is where the most enjoyment lies.

4. Rent a Hero No. 1 34d7

This remake of the original Mega Drive classic was sadly canceled for an official English release. That said, it is still possible to play the Xbox remake and it is the definitive way to check out this action JRPG. The world is fun to explore, the story is a bit ridiculous, and the third-person brawler-style combat works surprisingly well.

5. Shenmue 2 1t6i1k

Shenmue 2 is far from the typical JRPG experience but it was one of the most influential games in of exploration, open-world, and role-playing as a character in a story. This slower RPG lets players explore a highly detailed version of Hong Kong with so much to see and do. There are arcade games, minigames, fighting game-like brawls, and a solid enough storyline. Just know that the gameplay doesn’t hold up as well as some of the other JRPGs on this list.

A release date for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle has been announced. The game will be released for PC and Xbox Series X/S on December 9, 2024, plus a PS5 release in 2025.

The release date for Indiana Jones and the Great Circle was announced alongside a new trailer led by Troy Baker. The ubiquitous voice actor will be portraying the famous archaeologist in the game. In the trailer, we got to see snippets of gameplay, including the combat making use of brawling, shooting and Indy's iconic whip. Some puzzle gameplay was also shown off, including the use of photgraphy to help solve these challenges.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle was first announced in a teaser by developer MachineGames in 2021. The game initally appeared to be an Xbox exclusive following Microsoft's acquisition of Bethesda, and since been shown off in Xbox presentations such as the January 2024 Developer Direct and Xbox Games Showcase in June 2024. It is the latest of a long line of Indiana Jones games, from LucasArts point-and-click adventures in the 1980s to the Lego Indiana Jones games of more recent years.

Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will release on Xbox Series X/S and PC on December 9, 2024. It will also release on PS5 in Spring 2025.

The Xbox Series X and the Xbox Series S in Japan will become more expensive in Japan from August 15, 2024. This change will only affect Japan and it is likely due to the poor economy in that country. [Thanks, Famitsu!]

Here are the new adjusted prices for Xbox consoles in Japan:

• Xbox Series X: 59,978 JPY to 66,978 JPY
• Xbox Series S 1TB (Black): 44,578 JPY to 49,978 JPY
• Xbox Series S 512GB: 37978 JPY to 44,578 JPY

As mentioned earlier, this change is likely due to the weaker yen. According to Windows, it changed the prices as a result of changes in the market. These prices will only go into effect on August 15, 2024. So if you’re in Japan without one of the above Xbox models and you were thinking of getting one, you might want to purchase a model before they become more expensive.

This is not the first time that consoles became more expensive as a result of some sort of economic challenge. Back in 2022, the PS5 became more expensive in various regions and countries. This was, according to Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Jim Ryan, due to “challenging economic conditions” from inflation, as well as “adverse currency trends.” In other words, Sony raised the prices of the PS5 for the exact same reasons Microsoft is making Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S consoles more expensive.

The Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S consoles in Japan will see a price adjustment in August 15, 2024, and they will become more expensive.

Square Enix announced two Xbox Design Lab controller recipes for items based on the FFXIV Dawntrail Pictomancer and Viper job classes. The Pictomancer one is a standard model controller that costs $79.98, due to it using the Dream Vapor body that is $9.99 more, while the Viper is a $149.99 Elite model.

As these are recipes, they can be adjusted further. The defaults shared by Square Enix are Xbox Design Lab controller designs based on the official art for the Pictomancer and Viper and their color schemes in FFXIV Dawntrail. The Pictomancer uses the Dream Vapor body, Robot White back, Astral Purple bumpers, Glacier Blue triggers, Retro Pink d-pad, Glacier Blue thumbsticks, Grey on White ABXY buttons, and Black on White view, menu, and share buttons.  The Viper recipe uses a Garnet Red body and back, Bright Silver Metallic bumpers and triggers, the Bright Silver Metal cross d-pad, a Bright Silver Metal thumbstick base with Nocturnal Green topper, Nocturnal Green ABXY buttons, and Ash Gray view, menu, and share buttons. 

It isn’t uncommon for Microsoft to offer these sorts of presets alongside the launches of certain games. For example, The First Descendant is out now, and it has its own recipe. There was also a specific one for Elden Ring and its Shadow of the Erdtree DLC.  

Final Fantasy XIV and the Dawntrail expansion are available now for the PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC. The Xbox Design Lab controllers can be used with the Xbox Series X or PC versions of FFXIV.
