Crocs announced the release of new clogs based on Goku and Vegeta from the Dragon Ball Z anime series. The clogs will be available for purchase on February 25, 2025 in North America and Europe, and will appear a day later in Japan. [Thanks, Game Watch!]

There are two clog models being released as part of this new line, with a classic model based on Goku and an Echo Clog based on Vegeta. The adult sizes for the Goku classic Crocs cost $69.99/9,900 yen and the kids' sizes cost $54.99/6,050 yen. The look of the clogs is inspired by Goku’s orange Gi, with the strap modeled after his blue belt. Meanwhile, the base of the clogs features Ki charge aura motifs. The Goku models will also include exclusive Jibbitz charms inspired by Shenron, the 4-star Dragon Ball, and the "Go" kanji on Goku’s Gi.

Meanwhile, the Vegeta Crocs model is inspired by Vegeta’s iconic blue and white Battle Armor. The adult sizes for the Vegeta Crocs cost $89.99/14,850 yen, while the kids’ sizes cost $64.99, with no kids’ models available in Japan. The exclusive Jibbitz charms for the Vegeta model include his Space Pod, Vegeta's Great Ape form, and Vegeta's name in Japanese. In addition, a set of 5 Jibbitz charms for Crocs will be available for $19.99/2,420 yen. The charms included feature Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, Frieza and the 4-star Dragon Ball.

Other popular Crocs collections with Japanese popular media have appeared in the past, like a Pokemon line, and a Gundam collection.

The Dragon Ball Z Crocs inspired by Goku and Vegeta will go on sale on February 25, 2025 from the Crocs online store and retail stores.

Bandai Spirits will release a hat that’ll let you look like Majin Buu from Dragon Ball Z. This item will appear in Banpresto crane games from December 10, 2024.

The Dragon Ball Z Majin Buu hood is around 28 centimeters in length, meaning it should fit on most people. It has the tentacle-like protrusion from his head, the four dots around it, and the odd-looking ears that Majin Buu has. Since it covers the ears as well, it might be something warm you can wear in the colder months. Bandai Spirits also plans to release a Piccolo hood in February 2025. That one will also be a crane game prize, so you’ll need to find some Banpresto crane games to get it.

Apart from the Majin Buu hat, Bandai Spirits has released some odd Dragon Ball Z merchandise in the past. In 2022, it released a giant cushion that resembled Freiza’s capsule pod. It was big enough for people to lay down in it as well, so it wasn’t a crane game but something you needed to pre-order or purchase via the official website.

Dragon Ball Z is available on streaming services like Crunchyroll. The Majin Buu hat will appear in Banpresto crane games in Japan from December 10, 2024.

I cannot state more how much I love Krillin. He may not be the strongest warrior of all time, he may not be as important as the story gets universal in Dragon Ball Super, but he's always had a tremendous heart. His friendship with Goku from the earliest days was always funny and sweet and we cannot deny how good his outfits were all throughout the Dragon Ball series to date. -- John

Across all Dragon Ball series and arcs, Gohan will always be my guy. He was a role model growing up, seeing so much of myself in him as a kid myself watching the series. I even saw similarities in our personalities in how we care more about studying and learning than fighting or training. We are both a little nerdy and awkward. In celebration of 40 years of Dragon Ball, Secretlab will release a brained new gaming chair themed after Goku himself. A Secretlab Titan Evo Dragon Ball Z Goku version is on the way.

This new chair is patterned after Goku's classic orange and blue gi, emblazoned with the kanji for "Kame" on the front of the chair, and "Kai Oh" on the back, showing the emblems of Goku's two great teachers: Master Roshi and King Kai. In addition, the orange and blue patterns of the chair are done in a speckle pattern, calling back to Goku's iconic outfit. There are also some other neat details, like the seven Dragon Balls on the back and front of the chair.

The chair is currently retailing at $644 and comes in a Small size, for people under 5' 6", a Regular size, for between 5' 7" and 6' 2", and the Extra Large size, for people between 5' 11" and 6' 9". The Small and Regular retail for the same price, but the Extra Large will retail at $694.

This is just one of the many things in the pipeline to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Dragon Ball. The new series, Dragon Ball Daima will be premiering on the anniversary. In addition, fans commemorated the series by voting on which of Goku's famous fights they thought were the coolest in the entire 40-year run of Dragon Ball.

On Goku Day 2024, May 9th, the Official Dragon Ball Site held a poll, asking fans to vote on what they thought their favorite one of Goku's many battles, from Dragon Ball through Dragon Ball Super, was. The votes have been tallied and the top 100 out of the countless battles Goku has fought have been revealed.

The top 10 fights got their own special Dragon Ball Weekly Update video, where Victory Uchida, the editor for Dragon Ball Super, and Toyotarou, Dragon Ball Super's lead illustrator discussed the list and what their favorite fights were. Toyotarou's was the final battle with Kid Buu at the end of the original run of Dragon Ball Z.

The criteria for the list were, according to the original Dragon Ball site, the following:

• Verbal sparring and rock-paper-scissors count
• As long as Goku enters the contest with the spirit of battle, battles against inorganic foes also count! However, rocks and such whose destruction is merely a casualty of another fight do not count!
• The start of a fight until the fighting stops counts as one battle. Characters who Goku fights more than once are included in the lineup as many times as they fought Goku!

The top ten battles according to the fan vote are as follows:

Some notable entries that cracked the top 50 included Goku firing a Kamehameha at Yamcha's Car from the original Dragon Ball, the first duel with Piccolo, Goku and Vegeta kart racing against one another in Dragon Ball Super, and Goku catching the Giant Fish, the first fight he ever had in Dragon Ball.

With this year being the 40th anniversary of Dragon Ball and after the ing of series creator Akira Toriyama, fans all over the world have been expressing their fondness for the creator and his seminal work, Dragon Ball, including his co-workers.

The official Dragon Ball website is celebrating Saiyan Day on March 18, 2024, and as part of the celebrations the official blog has posted a look at how the Dragon Ball Z Vegeta Saiyan Battle Armor costume is made.

The blog revealed that it took over 160 hours to design and craft the real-life Vegeta's Saiyan Battle Armor costume. They first began with creating the pattern for the battle armor. The team behind the costume stated on the blog that they referenced illustrations and designs from the original Dragon Ball Z series. They used hard sponge, vinyl leather, and "other materials" that went unlisted for the armor. After applying the vinyl leather, they colored and aged the armor.

After creating the battle armor, the team creating the Dragon Ball Z Vegeta costume worked on the gloves. The blog states that they worked on a pattern for the gloves and used leather as the main material. The gloves were more difficult to make due to having "complicated parts," so the cutting and sewing was done carefully to make sure it was accurate.

Following the gloves was the creation of the inner suit. The team had to create a custom pattern and chose a thick jersey fabric so it was flexible and comfortable. They wanted whoever would wear the costume to be able to "pull off agile moves like the Saiyan prince himself." The chest was kept loose to make it look "broad" and the wait was tapered to create a contrast between the upper and lower parts.

Like countless others who grew up in the 1990s, I devoted my childhood to watching Dragon Ball Z. The wait for new sets of episodes to come to Toonami here in America always seemed to feel like decades. At the time, I had no idea that a single storyteller and artist named Akira Toriyama was the creative force behind everything.

When the name Akira Toriyama comes up, it's usually his artwork that starts the conversation. Rightly so! His style is iconic and instantly recognizable. But Toriyama was also as a gifted and unique storyteller. Many people often credit his creations for their monumental influence on modern stories. I'm not suggesting his writing is some hidden gem. However, it is important to highlight the way he told stories and how his work influenced not only my personal taste into adulthood, but countless others.

Dragon Ball Z was the first serialized show I ever watched. Unlike Power Rangers, with its monster-of-the-week format, Dragon Ball ended up divided into story arcs. It made me feel grown-up, like I was watching a "real" show. That's why we all eagerly waited for new episodes, craving to know what happens next. I lost count of how many times I'd see Goku land on Namek. Then, it would go right back to the beginning with Raditz in the next episode.

I didn't realize it then, but everything I've been reminiscing about with Dragon Ball Z was thanks to Akira Toriyama's storytelling finesse. Goku's dramatic entrance onto Namek wasn't just a scene. It was a culmination of multiple storylines. It was both an anticipation and resolution all at once. Some may argue that Toriyama relied on this formula too heavily in later arcs. However, for me, the balance of tension and release he crafted within each one, especially when a new character arrived after a hard-fought battle, was unparalleled. I struggle to think of anyone who executed it as masterfully as he did. One standout moment for me is Gohan's epic arrival to confront Buu in Dragon Ball Z's final arc. Even now, rewatching the scene gives the same chills as it did in my youth.

However, the fights aren't everything, despite some detractors suggesting otherwise. Let's face it, Akira Toriyama crafted a downright bizarre world in Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, and Dragon Ball Super. Talking animals are just part of the scenery. Pocket-sized cars? Totally normal. It's all wonderfully odd, and that's precisely what makes it so captivating. Toriyama fully embraces the goofiness of it all. Nothing is ever too serious … until it suddenly is. That's the twist. That's why countless epic moments from this show are still etched into my memory.

Goku is undeniably a wonderfully goofy character; even during fights, he's just there to enjoy himself. However, when Frieza killed Krillin, Goku's demeanor changed drastically. This pivotal moment marked Goku's transformation into a Super Saiyan for the first time. Describing it as iconic almost feels like an understatement.

What makes it so impactful is how Akira Toriyama, as a storyteller, subverted our expectations of a character we know so well. The once gentle and playful Goku is now consumed by rage and fury. It's a tense moment. He's still our hero, but now we're left wondering at what cost this victory will come. It also moves the narrative forward, closing an arc that started back with Raditz: Goku accepting his heritage.

There are countless moments like this in Dragon Ball Z and other parts of the series' storyline that strike me as incredibly creative. I believe it stems from Toriyama's background in writing comedic manga and series like Dr. Slump. Transitioning from comedy to drama seems far smoother than the reverse. This balance is what prevents Dragon Ball from ever tipping into melodrama. The serious moments feel genuine, but the lighter moments are equally cherished and bring a sense of warmth to the series.

Even his iconic artwork doesn't just adorn the story. It's a vital thread woven into the very fabric of the narrative, enhancing the entire experience Take, for instance, the reason Super Saiyans have blond hair. It was simply easier for Toriyama to leave the hair uncolored, rather than meticulously fill in the black! This approach exemplifies Toriyama's penchant for working smarter, not harder, and using art to guide the story.

I mean look at it this way. Almost every new Dragon Ball Z game essentially just retells the show's plot. Yet every time, we eagerly dive in, ready to relive the saga with unabashed enthusiasm. There's a comforting familiarity to it, woven seamlessly with Toriyama's signature blend of humor, action, and suspense.

Akira Toriyama's impact is all over so much of the content that captured my interest as I grew up. His whimsical, almost aloof, characters set the bar for the kind of characters I grew to favor in JRPGs. Actually, who knows if I'd even like JRPGs if I hadn't been looking for games "similar to Dragon Ball Z." His fusion of sci-fi with fantasy elements also paved the way for iconic titles like Chrono Trigger (which, of course, he had a hand in). In one way or another, I can trace many of my interests back to Dragon Ball Z and the rich universe Toriyama created.

Akira Toriyama was an undeniable powerhouse of talent, no matter how you look at it. As fans around the globe mourn his ing, it's important to that the legacy he left behind continues to shape and inspire countless new writers and artists. And with any luck, it always will. Rest easy, Akira Toriyama, and thank you for everything.

Fathom announced the Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods movie will be in theaters in the US for two days in October 2023. It will air from October 17-18, 2023. Only the English dub version will be available, and there will be no option to see it in Japanese with English subtitles. However, this will be the 105-minute long extended cut version of the film. Fathom is already taking ticket pre-orders for the event on its official site.

This is the tenth anniversary of the film, as this Dragon Ball Z movie debuted back in March 2013. It features Goku and his allies facing off against Beerus. After Beerus decides to destroy Earth while searching for the Super Saiyan God, Goku and his allies must learn more about this legendary being.

MegaHouse revealed a brand new Dragon Ball Z figure of Goku and young Gohan riding a bipedal robot. The company will start accepting pre-orders for the figure from July 7, 2023 from the Bandai Japanese online store. The figure costs 27,280 JPY (or approximately $189), and it is scheduled to release in Japan on January 2024.

The new figure is part of the Desktop Real McCoy line of figures, and it is d as an even bigger statue, standing at roughly 200mm in height (or 7.8 inches). The top of robot that Goku and Gohan are riding is a motorbike frame with a set of bipedal legs installed on the rear wheel.

Classic Anime franchise Dragon Ball will be present at the 2023 Comic Con International in San Diego (SDCC) with a special exhibition. The exhibition will be held at an outside booth at the Mariott Marquis Marina Terrace.

SDCC 2023 will be held this year at the San Diego Convention Center on July 20-23, 2023, with a preview night held on July 19, 2023. While nothing has been announced, Comic Con is often the stage for big reveals, so it may be worth keeping an eye on the official event site. Bandai Namco promised more new information soon. There are often exclusive pieces of merchandise as well, which could mean special figures only available at the event. There will also be a showing of the movie Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero which has not one but two crossovers with Fortnite.

In May 2023, Bandai Namco celebrated Goku and King Piccolo Day. "Goku" Day is every year on May 9th. Uniqlo also opened orders for a line of Dragon Ball shirts commemorating various story arcs.

It is no surprise we see more Dragon Ball figures being released, as a recent report confirmed it to be one of the most lucrative IPs for Bandai Namco in the last financial year, along with Gundam. Another example of this is the 10 million sales milestone reached by the Dragon Ball FighterZ and Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 games.

Uniqlo opened orders for its History of Dragon Ball line of shirts. Both unisex adult and kids styles are available. As usual, the adult sizes range from XXS to XXXL for $24.90 each. The kids ones are in sizes 3-4Y to 13Y for $14.90 each. There’s also a special site that breaks down the selection by the arcs each design is pulled from.

The unisex adult shirts, which are cut in a men’s style, cover seven arcs from the series. Son Goku Boy, Tenkaichi Budokai, Saiyan, Frieza, Androids, Cell, and Buu arcs are all represented. Here’s what you can get. Two of them feature front and back designs, like the Son Goku Boy Arc and Saiyan Arc ones.

There was also an online-exclusive Dragon Ball UT Complete Box. That included all seven shirts in the collection with a special sticker inside a collectable box. Only the unisex versions, sizes XS through XL, were available. However, the $179.90 bundle sold out.

May 9, 2023 is a big day for Dragon Ball Z fans, as it will be both Goku Day and King Piccolo Commemoration Day. The official website for the series ed a summary of the celebrations in a fake news segment. There will be a poll for s to vote on their favorite Goku quote, as well as a "Piccolection" of Piccolo-related items.

Shueisha collected fifty-nine iconic Goku quotes for you to choose for readers to choose from. The video shows a reel of some s rom the manga. The announcer's personal pick is Goku's "They died because of it," which he said during his battle against Frieza. The top quotes will become merchandise. We'll see more information on that when it will come up in July 2023. It's unclear if the quotes themselves will turn into an item, or if it's the context of the quote that will be.

In the Dragon Ball Z canon, May 9 is literally King Piccolo Commemoration Day. To celebrate, there will be a quiz that looks back on Piccolo's best hits. Fans will also be able to vote on what they thought were Piccolo's most amazing moments. Voters will be eligible for prizes such as a figure and special card. Toriyama will create original artwork of the scenes that fans pick. Speaking of Toriyama, a sneak peek at the draft for the new chapter six of Dragon Ball Super will be available for a limited time on May 12, 2023.

Goku Day and King Piccolo Commemoration Day takes place on May 9, 2023. A Dragon Ball Z video game, Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 4, is in development.
