The official English social media for the Chainsaw Man series announced that the The Movie: Reze Arc will release outside Japan in US theaters on October 29, 2025. It is part of the Sony and Crunchyroll CinemaCon 2025 announcements. This is just over a month after its Japanese debut on September 19, 2025. 

The official reveal included one of the piece of Japanese art shared for the new film. While the full name of the film is Chainsaw Man - The Movie: Reze Arc, it is actually an adaptation of the Bomb Girl arc of the Public Safety Saga portion of the manga. This is the fifth part of that story and comes right after the halfway point of the series. As the name suggests, a newly introduced character named Reze is one of the most central characters in it. However, the latest key art only shows Denji as Chainsaw Man.

Sony’s announcement didn’t note when people can start reserving theater tickets in the US for the English release of Chainsaw Man - The Movie: Reze Arc. We also don’t know if there will be a dubbed version available, or if it will only be shown with Japanese voice acting and English subtitles.

The first season of Chainsaw Man is streaming on Crunchyroll now. As for the manga, it’s currently in the Academy part of the story, and the Aging Devil arc recently finished. Viz Media handles its release outside of Japan, and volume 18 is due to debut on May 6, 2025.

A new teaser trailer for the Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc revealed the release date for the film. The movie is set to appear in Japan on September 19, 2025. The is no information about an overseas release date yet.

The 30-second-long teaser prominently features Reze as well as Denji, Makima, and Aki Hayakawa. The video also featured various iconic quotes from the Reze Arc of the Chainsaw Man manga, such as Denji asking Makima if she thinks he has a heart, and Reze telling Denji that she will teach him about everything.

Meanwhile, the Chainsaw Man manga just recently concluded the Aging Devil arc, and is starting a new arc that will seemingly involve a confrontation with the Death Devil. A longer teaser trailer for the long awaited anime movie also appeared back on December 2024, showing some of the same scenes that the recent short teaser offered and more.

Jump Festa 2025 meant an update on Chainsaw Man - The Movie: Reze Arc, and we have a release window and new trailer. The film will show up in Japan in 2025, though there’s no exact release date currently. It was first revealed in December 2023. There’s also no word yet on a new season of the anime, though the 12 episodes of season 1 are on Crunchyroll now.

The new Chainsaw Man - The Movie: Reze Arc trailer is available on Mappa’s YouTube channel now. English subtitles are available, if you turn on closed captions. The video begins with Denji and Reze having coffee together while she asks if he’d prefer a city mouse or country mouse. After that, we see Makima asking him on a date. However, after the 47 mark, the teaser shifts between showing his two love interests to a look at a new threat facing the Public Safety Division.

There are also two new key visuals for the movie that appeared at Jump Festa 2025. One of them features Denji as Chainsaw Man, transformed and in the midst of attacking. 

As of right now, the Chainsaw Man manga is in the midst of the Academy Saga Current Arc. It’s currently on a short break following the release of chapter 187 on December 17, 2024. The next new installment will appear on December 31, 2024 worldwide, with MangaPlus and Viz Media offering it outside of Japan.

Back in 2023, Bushiroad announced a Chainsaw Man event for BanG Dream: Girls Band Party based on the anime and manga and its characters. Now, the crossover will finally appear worldwide. There’s no exact date yet, but the December 1, 2024 social media announcement said it is “coming soon.”  

Since the event already appeared in the Japanese version of the game in June 2023, we know what it entails. There are two covers of songs from the anime. One is “Chainsaw Blood,” which is performed by Afterglow. The other is “Fight Song,” which is sung by Roselia.

As you play, you can also get versions of existing characters who are dressed up like cast from the Chainsaw Man anime. The two we’ll be able to earn are Morfonica’s Rui as Aki and Poppin’ Party’s Rimi as Kobeni. If you go through the gacha, you can get Afterglow’s Ran as Denji, Morfonica’s Toko as Power, and Roselia’s Sayo as Makima. 

As for Chainsaw Man, we should get some news about what’s next for the anime adaptations and manga soon. It will be part of Jump Festa 2025. Mappa is currently working on Chainsaw Man The Movie: Reze Arc, so an update on that seems likely.

BanG Dream: Girls Band Party is on mobile devices, and the Chainsaw Man event comes to the global version of the game “soon.” The Chainsaw Man anime is available to stream on Crunchyroll.

Chapter 182 of the Chainsaw Man manga ends with a cliffhanger that potentially signals the return of two characters from the Public Safety Saga part of the story. The teaser for the return of the two familiar Chainsaw Man characters comes on page 16 of the new chapter. After the current events involving Denji and Asa Mitaka, the story shifts to the two individuals. We only get to see them from behind as they’re heading to an undisclosed location.

We still have quite some time to wait before the physical copies of the Chainsaw Man manga catch up to the current chapters like 182 and 183 in Shonen Jump. The most recently released volume is 16, and that covers chapters 134-143. That’s the Chainsaw Man Church arc in the Academy Saga. Volume 17 will come out on January 7, 2025, and that will cover chapters 144-153. 

Chapter 182 of the Chainsaw Man manga is available worldwide now, and we can read chapter 183 on MangaPlus and Viz Media on November 12, 2024. Viz Media handles the manga outside of Japan. The anime is streaming on Crunchyroll.

Universal Studios Japan (USJ) has announced a new collaboration with the popular anime series Chainsaw Man for their Halloween Horror Nights 2024 event. Set in the Hollywood Area of the park, the attraction will run from September 6 - November 4, 2024. The announcement was made via a Twitter post and expanded upon on their official USJ website.

The new attraction, titled Chainsaw Man: The Chaos 4-D, will feature an original storyline where visitors can experience a battle between Chainsaw Man characters Denji, Aki, Power, and Kobeni against the Halloween Horror Nights Demons. The 4-D experience will immerse guests in the chaotic and blood-soaked world of Chainsaw Man, complete with realistic special effects and intense action scenes.

The experience is designed to be intense and is recommended for guests aged 12 and older, with parental consent required for younger visitors. Express options are available for those looking to skip the lines.

In related news, MAPPA announced a re-release of their collaboration merchandise between the Chainsaw Man anime and the street brand Peace x After. This collection includes shirts and hoodies featuring unique characters from the series, blending the street aesthetic with the anime’s iconic designs.

The Universal Studios Japan (USJ) X (formerly known as Twitter) teased an collaboration with Chainsaw Man. More information on it will appear at a later date.

There aren’t many details about the event. It features a person whose face is mutating into a more monstrous maw trying to get at a person whose hand is turning into a chainsaw. The artwork of the hand and the chainsaw is a match to Denji’s arm in promotional materials of Chainsaw Man. So while chainsaws in horror fiction are a very staple trope, it is more than likely that this will be a Chainsaw Man event.

Universal Studios Japan often runs limited time events and collaborations with other intellectual properties. For example, it had several collaborations with Resident Evil and Demon Slayer. Usually, if you go to the theme park during the event, you’ll be able to order limited time menus from an exclusive menu, as well as enjoy themed rides. These rides tend to involve an indoor roller coaster that takes you on an adventure based on the work, complete with newly recorded lines from the voice actors. You’ll watch scenes that are projected on a screen while the coaster shakes or otherwise imitates action.

MAPPA announced another run of the collaboration merchandise between the TV anime Chainsaw Man and the street brand Peace and After. This collection, which was only available to pre-order in 2023, is a collection that mixes the unique characters of Chainsaw Man with this brand's street aesthetic for things like shirts and hoodies.

The lineup includes 11 items, including a phone case with a pixelated rendition of Power and Nyako, and a sweatshirt depicting the obscure but beloved sea cucumber devil from Power’s debut episode.

The following is a list of the returning items in the collection, along with their prices in Japanese yen (tax included). They will only be available on Japan, so a proxy service may be needed to order and get them in other regions.

Takara Tomy will release miniature figures of the Chainsaw Man characters looking sleepy. You’ll be able to find them in gacha machines across Japan from early May 2024, and each attempt will cost 400 JPY ($2.60). [Thanks, Hobby Watch!]

These figures are part of the Katazun Fig series, or Shoulder Lean. The idea is that they’re slightly tilted to the side, as if they’re about to rest their head on the person next to them as they fall asleep. Because of this, you could try and display all of these figures together to make a line of characters sleeping on each other. In total, Takara Tomy will release four sleepy Chainsaw Man figures as part of this collection. They’ll be Denji, Makima, Aki, and Power.

Chainsaw Man is an anime and manga series that started from 2018 and is still ongoing. MAPPA’s anime adaptation ran from October to December 2022. It follows Denji, a poor teenager working off his deceased father’s debt to the yakuza. When the yakuza try to kill him, Pochita, his pet and the Chainsaw Devil, forms a contract with him and turns him into a Devil-human hybrid that can turn into Chainsaw Man.

Chainsaw Man is readily available for streaming on services like Crunchyroll and Viz Media has licensed the manga for English readers. The Chainsaw Man figures will be available in gacha machines in Japan from May 2024.

The adventures of Denji and Asa in the Chainsaw Man manga are often a lot, but mangaka Tatsuki Fujimoto really kicked it up for the start of 2024 and chapter 156. With the latest arc, it’s sometimes felt like Denji took a backseat, but now that the attention is fully on him again, it’s resulted in one of the more shocking and traumatizing moments in the series.

Editor’s Note: There will be spoilers for the Chainsaw Man manga up through chapter 156 and what happens to Denji throughout. 422q

Denji has been through a lot in Chainsaw Man. From the very beginning, this kid has been put through the ringer. I mean, we sort of expected it with how the series started. When he began, he was recounting how much of himself he’d sold, voluntarily maiming himself to get money to repay the debt his dad accrued. This poor kid with one eye, talking about how killing devils is more profitable than something like selling his own kidney.

And now in chapter 156 of the Chainsaw Man manga, we see the government’s caught and put him in the Tokyo Devil Detention Center. Initially, it seems as though he’s hospitalized for injuries. The Public Safety Devil Hunter Hirofumi Yoshida is there, who’s always been suspicious, but sometimes helpful. Except then he drops the stinger. “You broke the rules. There’s nothing more I can do to help you.” He claims to the people outside he “put him back under,” though Tatsuki Fujimoto never provided an exact showing such. Fumiko Mifune asks if Denji is going to be dismembered, Yoshida confirms it, and she seems almost gleeful to ask if she can take a piece before it all goes down.

Now, after reading all this, I figured there’d be some sort of break. We’d snap to Nayuta or Asa’s viewpoint. Something would happen so perhaps Denji could rally be be freed. However, as he has one of his talks when he’s unconscious with Pochita, another gut punch strikes. When they talk about Denji saving Nayuta, Pochita asks, “Save her? How can you do that without your legs?”

We then get this graphic, operating room scene in which Denji is being taken apart, piece by piece under supervision. It’s horrifying. A man we’ve seen recover time after time from death, surviving major fights, is being felled by ordinary human doctors who put him to sleep and are picking him apart piece-by-piece. It’s infuriating. It’s horrifying. It once again shows how Tatsuki Fujimoto doesn’t shy away from dark or uncomfortable moments.

Plus when you think about it, what happened with Denji in Chainsaw Man chapter 1 and 156 offers a nice bookend. We started with him voluntarily giving up pieces of himself. Now, we’re watching as he is involuntarily being cut up by the same people who he once worked alongside. Not to mention the Public Safety Saga arc of the series ended with Makima being cut up as well in chapter 96.

It lends itself to a sense of foreshadowing. Tatsuki Fujimoto stories end and begin with dismemberment, I guess? So if we’re seeing this happen again, alongside a tease that Denji murdered his father, it feels like perhaps we’re approaching something else big. Maybe something else is about to begin, and this is just the start of it. Especially since it ends with us seeing Asa and Yoru’s shoes as a Public Safety Devil Hunter saying “It would take a war to compromise this facility’s safety.” 

All in all, chapter 156 of the Chainsaw Man manga is horrifying, terrifying, and a clear example of how good this series is at having these pivotal moments that make the reader feel things. Sometimes horrifying or anguished feelings, but feelings nonetheless.

Scrap announced that a Chainsaw Man escape room game will appear at various locations throughout Japan starting on April 4, 2024. The title of the escape game is Escape from the Labyrinth Devil (Meikyuu no Akuma kara no Dasshutsu.)

The escape room story will feature Denji, Makima, Aki, and Power, and original devils created especially for the story will appear. The first location for the event is the Tokyo Mystery Circus located in Kabuchi-cho, Shinjuku, and it will be available until June 30, 2024. It was also revealed that the event will appear in Osaka, Nagoya, Sapporo, Fukuoka, Sendai, and Okayama. Release dates will be announced in the future.

Priority advance tickets for the Chainsaw Man escape room will go on sale on February 3, 2024, with general tickets available from February 10. General entrance tickets cost 3,600 yen (or about $24) during weekdays and 3,900 yen (~$26) on weekends. Meanwhile, groups of up to 6 people can buy group tickets at a reduced price of 3,300 yen (~$22) during weekdays and 3,600 yen (~$24 for weekends.

People can pay an extra 2,800 yen (~$19) to receive a limited-edition bonus notebook in Tokyo Special Division 4 style. All tickets can be converted to bonus tickets. You can take a better look at the notebook here:

Shueisha confirmed the production of Chainsaw Man the Movie: Reze Arc at Jump Festa 2024. The company also added a new webpage dedicated to the new movie on the franchise's anime website. MAPPA, the studio that also produced the 2022 TV anime adaptation of Chainsaw Man, is working on this movie.

The official teaser trailer for Chainsaw Man the Movie: Reze Arc is available to view on MAPPA's YouTube channel. It shows a sneak peek of interactions between Reze and the series protagonist Denji.

Chainsaw Man originated as a manga series that Tatsuki Fujimoto published in Weekly Shonen Jump from December 2018 to December 2020. A new part of the manga launched in Shonen Jump+ in July 2022, and it is still ongoing as of December 2023. The first TV anime adaptation of the series aired in October 2022 and ran for twelve episodes.

Various merchandise and collaborations featuring the franchise have also appeared in recent months in Japan. Tokyu Hotels in Osaka had a Chainsaw Man collaboration featuring the series characters in suits from August 2023 to October 2023. Meanwhile, Good Smile Company is producing PLAMAX model kits of Pochita that will be available in Japan in January 2024 and North America in Q2 2024.

Chainsaw Man the Movie: Reze Arc, which is currently under production, will be available to view in theaters. The movie's launch window is still unknown as of this announcement.

Good Smile Company announced a brand new PLAYMAX plastic model of Pochita from Chainsaw Man is being developed under the Max Factory brand. This small plastic model of stands approximately 3.5 inches tall once assembled and comes with two sets of facial stickers to create a smiling and angry face. Also, when Pochita's tail is pulled on, the chainsaw on his head will start spinning.

The Pochita PLAYMAX figure will release in January 2024 for ¥4,500 in Japan. Good Smile Company is targeting a Q2 2024 worldwide release date for the figure, and it will cost $30.99.

Chainsaw Man follows a young teenager named Denji who makes a contract with Pochita, the Chainsaw Devil. This gives him the powers to transform into parts of his body into chainsaws, dubbing him Chainsaw Man. The series first started as a manga written by Tatsuki Fujimoto running in Weekly Shonen Jump. The second part of the series currently runs in Shonen Jump+. The highly popular anime adaption was produced by MAPPA and its first season aired in 2022. Currently, there have been no announcements regarding the release for a second season.

The cases feature designs inspired by Denji in his titular Chainsaw Man form, Aki Hayakawa, Power, and the logo for the Public Safety Tokyo Special Division 4. The cases are made of impact-resistant tempered glass, and they have 9H hardness. Additionally, they will also be available for sale in Japan from early October 2023. Each case has five versions that are designed to work with different iPhone devices.

Taito and Banpresto announced volume 2 of Banpresto's Chainsaw Man Break Time Collection and this time the prize figure features Power in a sitting pose, with her playing with her cat Meowy. Being a prize figure, Power and Meowy are set to appear in Taito game centers across Japan beginning on August 8, 2023. Big Bad Toy Store is also taking pre-orders outside Japan at the price of $26.99. The figure is set to ship sometime in September 2023.
