New Sonic the Hedgehog Game Is Sonic Blitz

Sega announced its next new Sonic the Hedgehog game is called Sonic Blitz, and it is a card collecting and battling game from Rovio. However, not everyone can play it. Only the technical launch happened. This means it is in limited release, with only people in the Philippines able to play it.

While the game is only available to people in one region at the moment, the product pages on Apple’s App Store and Google Play are live. How it works is players build a deck of cards based on classic characters and opponents from the series. Each one has a set number of health and attack power. Major characters can also possess special abilities. During a match, you’ll play cards in one of two lanes, then decide if they “dash” at the end of a turn. Up to four cards can be played in each lane. Your goal is to whittle down your opponent’s health before yours falls to zero in order to win.

Since people in the Philippines can play Sonic Blitz now, there are already some videos online showing footage of the new Sonic the Hedgehog game. MDGamestation shared an initial look at how a match works on YouTube.

There’s another new mobile game based on the IP on the way too. However, it’s currently delayed. We don’t know exactly when Sonic Rumble will debut.

Sonic Blitz is heading to Android and Apple iOS devices, and the technical test for the new Sonic the Hedgehog game is live in the Philippines.
